What's this all about?
That's me, producer of Funny Words in Reno, Aaron Foster. The show is a chance for me to perform locally and to share the stage with my funny friends. I've been fortunate to meet, write and work with some of the best comics that, unless you frequent the LA comedy club scene, you have also probably never heard of. The idea behind "Funny Words in Reno" is to give those people an opportunity to do what they do best for a full house of folks looking for a fun night out.
I book the funniest and most experienced comics (usually along with one local) I can for one night only shows in Reno as an alternative to our existing comedy scene which seems to be mostly the BIG headliners who play the casinos and, well, not much else.
That's Vargus Mason. He was our headliner for show #2 in August and has performed in over 30 countries touring with the USO, been a finalist on Last Comic Standing, as well as been seen on everything from Comedy Central to VH1, to STARZ to BET. And of course, all the clubs in and around Los Angeles.
Heather Pasternak headlined our very first show back in July. She's performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and frequently headlines clubs around the country,so it's no surprise she crushed it here for us.
Most recently we had Matt Knudsen who you might recognize from, well, just about everything. He's done stand up on the late night shows and acted on too many shows to list, but we'll do a short one anyway: Malcolm in the Middle, The Big Bang Theory, Shrinking, Key and Peele, I Think You Should Leave and let's not forget General Frickin' Hospital!
Matt put on a fantastic one person variety show for us.
Finally, that's me, Aaron Foster, from our very first show. I'm still pretty new at this so it's a great opportunity for me to learn from the best. And if you've made it this far, I'll let you in on a little secret... I usually make my famous chocolate chip cookies for everyone who comes to the show. You might think that's a little weird, and maybe it is, but you won't care when you find out it's the best one you've ever eaten. Don't worry, we won't tell your grandmother.
